Pet friendly vacation rental homes allow pet owners to bring their pet with them on vacation, rather than leave them behind boarded or with a sitter. Some people believe that these rental homes are not very clean or may be run down. Think again!
Vacation rental home owners take much pride in the cleanliness of their property. Many times these homes are also second homes for the owners. They also vacation there. They want it to be very enjoyable for the renters and they require the homes to be clean and well looked after. Just like their first home.
So to allow pets to come along on vacation with their family means a lot to the pet owner. Also know that if a family is going to take their pet with them on vacation, that pet is usually very well taken care of, because it is a part of the family.
You must also know that there are usually rules that the home owner sets for the pet owner. For example, here are the rules for bringing your pet with you when you rent my home in Florida:
- Dog(s) must be on flea preventative.
- Dog(s) must be fully housebroken.
- Dog(s) must be under owners full control at all times, they must be on a leash when walking outside
- Dog(s) are not allowed on beds or other furniture. Please bring a dog bed/pillow if necessary.
- Tenant assumes responsibility for any damage that their pet causes to the home.
- Please remove dog waste in the yard caused by your pet.
So, if you think pet friendly homes are dirty and rundown, you are wrong!

Personal Note:
Both of my properties are pet friendly actually dog friendly. With over 100 guests, I have never had any issues with pets. Our properties are a combination of carpet and hardwood/laminiate flooring. I'm not saying we don't get an issue even once in a while a dog pees on the carpet. We have an urine stain and odor removal product which works incredbily well in the cabins for the owners to use. But we steam clean the carpet every 5 or so months which brings it back to new.
If you do rent to pets, from my experience you will get about 30% more rental booking.I think the most popular things to increase rental booking is either to allow pets or have a hot tub.
